This could very well be true and is one of the things I discuss above. The thing that I really don't understand is why the US Department of Education cannot offer this information through their database. The obviously have connections to individual states and universities as they breathe down their necks as soon as taxes are due. I just think that if it's your full time job to provide as much information as possible to college students then you should include every detail. I mean here I am providing as much information as I possibly can in my free time and NOT getting paid for it. It's not my full time job but I do it because I feel that college students rack up way too much debt in order to pay for college when they really do not need to. I believe there is a gap between paying for college and finding/receiving financial aid through scholarships.

Could it be possible that students can receive scholarships from their individual state governments either directly or through funding to the universities. I think there's a lack of federal information is because the national government probably dont deal with individual scholarsips.

Thanks Lisa! I'm sorry to hear about the degree choice, but I'm sure has happened to many people in life. How do you know or choose what you would like to do for the REST of your life? Usually you try to find things that have interested you though your childhood and high school days, but interests can change very quickly. The people who work for many years and love what they do are VERY lucky!

I know you say "if you could go back" and I'm sure you know that it's never too late to go back. You might not be able to go all out and spend another 4 years completely focusing on college but you may be able to take internet classes or maybe even part time classes at a local university. I have a few friends who are adult learners who've went through the same thing. According to them it is much easier to receive government funding, scholarships, and grants to pay for their college education than it is for young students fresh out of high school:)

I'm currently helping a close friend who recently became a father and works two jobs to support his family but told me that he would like to go back to college. Together we will probably find him a solution for funding and pick a schedule that works for his life. I also agreed to tutor him in math...haha.

Anyway, I hope this helps, and am glad that you visited my site.

Thanks for using SMB College Life!

Thanks for the comment Chris! It is much appreciated. I'm glad that more people are finding this info and putting it to goo use, and I hope to help reduce the college student's financial debt because I believe they graduate with entirely too much debt! Hopefully increasing awareness will work, but if not, I may have to find alternative solutions. Thanks again!

Thanks for stopping by my computer gaming blog earlier in the week and leaving such a great comment. Best of luck with your work over here. I don't know how I got my degrees without still owing money to this day, but I do know plenty of people who the info on this blog would have been invaluable to back in the day, and I hope lots of smart young people are finding it now.
Keep up the great work! :)

I'm past this point in my life. If I could go back I'd choose my major more wisely. I dreamed of a job but come to find out it was not the job that suited me at all.

I agree that you should work hard, keep your eye on the prize and do everything you can to reach it. Even if your goal changes the skills you learned along the way will serve you well.

Peace,
Lisa

I have not heard of him but I will definitely research him and provide some of his videos on the site. Unfortunately I've been swamped with final projects this past week so I haven't had a chance to update the site. I do plan to make some changes tonight and it should be updated either later tonight or tomorrow so if you check back you should see Gary Gulman on the list. Thanks for the input!
