I would like to start off by saying happy April Fool’s Day to everyone. With that said the US Department of Education has announced today that it will be paying the tuition bill for all students enrolled as a full-time student in a credited university in the United States. This means that the ‘average Joe’ will finally get funding to pay for his/her college education. Before the only people to receive money for college was athletes, minorities, foreign exchange students, extremely wealthy people with power, and extremely poor people.

The average student is no longer being stepped over but is being given a chance to shine! We are no longer being suppressed by lack of funding, financial struggles, and not being dumb but athletic enough to receive a full ride to college. The weight is being lifted from our shoulders so that we won’t have to work 20+ hours per week, limit our meals to two packets of Ramon noodles per day, or bum rides from other friends because we will now be able to keep some money in our bank accounts. What will happen with all this extra money that millions of college students will have at their disposal? We will shop!!

With hundreds, if not thousands of dollars at their disposal millions of college students across the country will go on massive shopping sprees; finally buy food, clothing, basic necessities such as toothpaste, deodorant and soap, perhaps even textbooks. This will be positive step forward for America as our nose diving economy will soon be stimulated by the spending of college students across the nation. It was all thanks to the help of our wonderful government finally deciding to give the average college student a chance to succeed. Suppressed no more, we will stand up to lead this country into a new era.

Other changes stimulated by this action will include communities joining together to clean up waste and begin working towards a greener future, gas prices falling to an all time low, government tax decreases for middle and lower class families, and Britney Spears finally cleaning her act up. This is a great step for everyone all because the system was changed to help the majority of college students instead of the latter. It seems as though the people in Washington finally work up from their 8 year nap and have decided to do something for our country instead of 3rd world countries who don’t even want our help. By distributing billions of dollars to the American college students instead of the Middle East to build sand dunes we will finally be able to regain our strength as the worlds strongest nation!

I wish this were true. Happy April Fool’s Day!

Be My Valentine

Valentine’s Day is here again. It’s time to show that special someone just how much you appreciate them. For most people, Valentine’s Day may bring some headaches while trying to figure out how you are going to “one-up” yourself from last year. You can’t do the same thing as last year; no that would be too dull. You have to figure out how you can do something better than last year.

ProFlowers

Most people buy flowers, candy, chocolate, and teddy bears, while others make dinner reservations and plan elaborate occasions. One of the challenges that we are faced with as college students is how we can make the little money we have stretch into something big enough to show our valentine just how much we love them. How can we spend as little money as possible to awe our significant other? Not having a significant other is the cheapest way to go, but for those who do you have to be creative.

You don’t have to spend a fortune to show someone just how much you appreciate them. Try using your talents or skills to make something that shows your valentine just how special he/she is to you. If you are an artist you can make a drawing. A musician can write a song. If you like to read or write use words in a love letter to express your feelings. If you are good at math or science, well, you’re probably screwed….just kidding. Use science to come up with the perfect equation that will always equal your significant other. You want to capture the idea that he/she is the only one in your universe but you want to do it in a cost effective way.

The best way to shock and awe is to do the unexpected. Go out of your way to do something that you normally wouldn’t do to surprise that special someone.

Newton’s Third Law States:
Every action creates and equal and opposite reaction

Use the laws of physics to create a great reaction from your significant other without spending a lot of money this Valentine’s Day. After all, they say the best things in life are free! Be creative, think outside of the box, go the extra mile, and your Valentine will know that you truly appreciate them!

Happy Valentine’s Day and good luck from SMB College Life!

I can’t begin to express my gratitude for the friends and family members that have stuck by me through thick and thin this year. My college life has taken its toll on many relationships of mine simply because of my work ethic, focus and dedication which is required of me through my major. This Christmas I am thankful for all the friends and family members who have continually supported any and all of my actions and shortcomings this year. I realize that there will be people in life who let us down and claim to be there through thick and thin and tend to fall short of their claim. This is life and Christmas provides us college students with a great opportunity to be thankful and to acknowledge the people who stick to their claim and have stayed by our side through the good times and the bad this academic year.

Today I send out a special Merry Christmas to all of my friends and family who were there for me and stuck by me this year! As the semester quickly comes to an end a new one begins to approach us. More importantly, as this semester ends that means that Christmas is only a few short weeks away. We have tried to make Christmas shopping quick and easy for college students and parents this year by integrating many products, coupons, and savings directly into the site. We know that college students have to stretch their finances at the end of the semester to try and get gifts for their family, so we’ve tried to find and offer the best deals on the internet to college students this holiday season.

You don’t have to fight the crowds at the stores this year because you can shop and save through SMB College Life. By partnering with different companies and retailer we are able to bring you great savings through our site, usually at better prices than your local store, where you could purchase the same item for more. A lot of our partners also offer you free shipping so you don’t have to worry about added costs when shopping for great holiday gifts this year.

College students should have their student ID’s ready when purchasing from our Apple & iTunes Store because you can receive a student discount on almost any product that you purchase! This also applies to employees of colleges and universities. We have also added our Amazon Store that should help you find a lot of the things you are looking for directly on our site, at some spectacular prices. For all the products we offer please check out our shopping section.

This section is not completely finished, but it’s functional enough for you to shop and save on thousands of great products this holiday season. Be sure to check back with our shopping page frequently during the next few weeks as we are determined to add as many great deals and savings as possible to optimize your holiday savings.

Because a new semester is right around the corner you should also check out our textbook page, where we promise that you will save money on purchasing textbooks for next semester AND you can receive the most money for selling back your old textbooks. By partnering with companies like Phat Campus , TextbookX.com, and many more we can essential broaden the college students’ horizon in the textbook exchange without being bias. We have found some great resources that you’ve probably never heard of, but that offer more textbooks and cheaper prices than the campus bookstores!
